CULTURE TRANSITION.

Culture Transition: future cultural dialogue between commerce and art.

  • Placement of fashion and art in the same cultural context and frameworks of philosophical thought.
  • Context of creativity;  Technology and expanded views on the arts,  Development from a craft based subject area to a more conceptually driven medium.
  • Challenged to confront competing definitions of form, which is the actual fashion – the dress, the idea of the dress or the image of the dress ?
  • A refusal to quantify work as belonging to either art or fashion.
  • Divisions between artists and fashion designers could be deemed as unnecessary in this climate of creativity, in which boundaries are crossed.
  • In recent years fashion has seen the wide spread breaking of boundaries across all forms of the arts, and so has become manifest across a wide and varying selection of settings where it takes on differing roles. Fashion is now involved in a creative world in which artists are no longer confined to choose classification but work across disciplines of creativity.
